Who are we?
Westside Warriors is a select boys basketball club in Katy, Texas, and is a registered Level 3 club member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). Westside Warriors is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.
How long have we been around?
We have been training kids and playing in AAU tournaments for 9 years (since 2015). We are one of the longest, continuous-running AAU basketball clubs in Katy.
Who are our players?
Our players are playing or have played on 7th Grade A & B, 8th Grade A & B, HS Freshman, Sophmore, JV and Varsity teams. Our HS players come from Seven Lakes, Tompkins, Cinco Ranch, Taylor, Jordan, Houston Christian, and Fulshear high schools.
What AAU tournaments do we play?
We have played in virtually every AAU venue in Houston, Round Rock, San Antonio, and Dallas, i.e., PrimeTime, Vype, Spurs, NXG, GSE, Big Time Hoops, BBall Nation, Clockwork, Alodia, RAP, Dub, Heavenly Hoopz, RCS, C2C, Court 23, etc. We have also played in AAS Nationals, PrimeTime Nationals, BigFoot H-Town Classic, Alodia Nationals, and C2C Bay Area Championships.
What about our results?
Our teams have excelled and placed 1st or 2nd in all of the AAU venues listed above. In 2018, our 6th grade team played in 27 local and regional AAU tournaments and won 18 of those tournaments. The same team also won the PrimeTime Nationals in Dallas. In 2019, our 7th grade team won 15 local and regional AAU tournaments, and placed in the Top 8 teams in the Gold Bracket at the AAS Nationals in San Antonio. In 2019, our HS team won 12 local and regional AAU tournaments, and placed in the Top 16 teams in the Gold Bracket at the AAS Nationals. Our results speak for themselves. See some of our Team Wins.
What are we trying to achieve?
Our goal is to provide an advanced basketball training program to players who want to take their game to the next level. We provide players who have above-average basketball skills an opportunity to play with, and against, other players of similar abilities.
In short, we want to improve our players and win at tournaments. We want to promote winning and life skills such as teamwork, discipline, goal-setting, respect, and sportsmanship.
What we are and what we are not
We do NOT select everyone who comes to our tryouts. We are NOT a big-box AAU basketball club. We are NOT in the business of making money.
We are basketball-loving dads with full-time jobs who want to devote and volunteer our time to our kids and their friends, just like KYB board members. We have playing and coaching experience. We are realistic. We are not trying to develop D1 college players. We just want our kids to grow and develop, and be competitive in a game we love. We have a network of trainers who we bring in to teach certain skills. We control our own schedule and what tournaments we play. We split the total cost of tournament registration, gym rental, AAU admin/insurance, and trainers, by the number of players on the team.
